THE WEEZUL BROTHERS

THE WEEZUL BROTHERS

Nice guys and FUN music.
Here is the "Legend" of the Weezul Brothers that I wrote!!

BIO, The Weezul Brothers

To know the Weezul Brothers it is necessary to go back in time and look at our Daddy.

Joshua Weezul was a Poet-Musician-Signpainter, Snake oil salesman and ne’er-do-well , that traveled the length of this great land searching to find himself, or at least a warm place to lay.

Starting off in California, he took a chance on an Indian blanket and left behind a son
that found ol’ dad’s guitar…he picked up the name “Jack” because Dad denied him so often that people would question him saying,, “You don’t know Jack!” (That’s where that phrase originated.) but he did learn to play the thing anyway.

Upon leaving California Dad took up with a mountain woman that had settled in Ohio. Gnawing through the leg trap that helped him become a “Homebody”, ol’ Josh left behind a young man that actually thought that he was a wolf. His howling paid off when he found that, not only could he scare off real wolves, but he also learned to sing…since he refused to ever let go of his microphone, everyone called him “Mike”.

Daddy found himself in Detroit building Ford trucks, where he met a pretty girl working as a welder at Ford. She wasn’t actually pretty, but ol’ Dad wasn’t real picky. Anyway she swept him off of his feet, literally, and carried him off to live with her gypsy family.

Ol’ Dad fit right in with this buncha bums and eventually a son was born. Since he was the ‘Awfullest” looking kid they ever saw, they named him “Theophalous”. Not only was he kinda hard to look at he had a habit of slamming heavy spoons onto big pots. This became a problem, they would chuck him oughta the shack so often that he became known as “Chuck”. He later found a drum set and the rest is history.

Ol’ Dad then moved on to New Jersey, where he met his next love, a lady blacksmith that always wanted a son that she could teach to design and build things. His Mom and our Dad would watch in horror as juniors experiments would blow up in his face…Dad would laugh and yell, “Boy, that’s gonna leave a mark!” Yep, you guessed it..the name “Mark” stuck.

After Mark’s Mom tossed ol’ Dad out he moved to Noava Scotia and met a lady that tried real hard to get Dad to settle down. She thought that she might have a son that she could teach to play the piano, he’d be a real musician and together they might bring some civility to the ol’ boy. Were they ever wrong, Dad tried to name the boy “Sue” and she threw Dad out and gave their son a nice name, “Ken.”

The boys knew nothing of each others existence but they all got the word that ol’ Dad had been shot by a jealous husband. At his memorial service the boys all looked at each other and felt an immediate kinship to each other…as they talked they all realized that ol’ Dad had left them with talents that would work together... they started a band hoping they could finally bring some honor to their family name…SO FAR IT HASN'T WORKED!

OUR THOUGHTS!

OUR THOUGHTS...

In order to understand my feelings about voting and every one's opinions...I think it would be wise to go back to my beginnings. My Mother and Father were raised in environments that encouraged the value of each persons thoughts.

I NEVER...heard one of them ask the other who they voted for...each approached it as a private matter, and they took voting and it's importance almost reverently. I learned much from them.

I'm a little more liberal in that thought process....You ask, I'll tell!! I may find it interesting why someone comes to the conclusions that they do...but it's not my job to get into your BIZNESS!!

To prove my point...I can't remember coming out and telling any of you kids what you should do while your going through life....even when I thought that bad decisions were being made, I don't believe I did anything but support youse guys!! During a conversation I may have made a comment or two, that I was suprised that any of you would choose to ignore the admonition of the Prophet....but I don't recall it being the kind that would have been construed as an argument that you better do it, "MY WAY! It's your life "KIDDIES"....Like the prophet has said..."You have your agency, Your free to make your decisions. The only thing you don't have control over is the ramifications of those choices."

Like everything in life, we all come to the decisions that we make from our life's experiences. Jack and I were talking the other night and politics came up and he made a comment about Obama and that I probably wasn't pleased that he won the election....I told him that, in my opinion both parties are headed in the wrong direction, but that the Dem's would just get us there a little quicker. I told him that I know that our thoughts are from a "Generational" perspective. I lived through the last REAL liberal that we had....(Clinton was liberal but was more interested in his own "Interests" than toeing a strict party line....(Note...his supporting welfare reform. He chose not to go after those who were attacking us, so he wasn't involved in a war that would prove to be costly... etc.)

Going through the Carter administration's blunders, we ended up with an inflation rate of over 12% and interest rates over 20%. It did enable Ronald Reagan to come in and turn things around...but it took time and was painful.

It will be interesting to see how Obama handles his power...he is a good, charismatic speaker that has talked a good game....well....."YOUR UP!" Will he hit a home run or strike out. Because of his background and his promises, the expectations placed upon him by the black community and half of the country, is "GINORMOUS". Frankly, I don't believe that he can deliver what they'd like him to do without going even further than "W" has done in taking us into complete bankruptcy. We shall see what he is made of rather quickly....and I'm rootin' for him to be a MAN....and do what is right for the country as a whole. His biggest problems will probably come from those who supported him the loudest. When he changes his agenda, and he will, they
are unlikely to take it kindly.

Maren, like your siblings, I'm proud of you for standing up for what you believe and having the guts to stand up with those decisions. I enjoyed the way you came to your conclusions and stated them on "YOUR" Blog....put it back up if you'd like, you deserve to be heard.

I love all of you and respect you and your free agency...use it wisely...and always consider, "What would the Savior do?"

OUR 40th ANNIVERSARY

OUR 40th ANNIVERSARY

I’d like to talk about the WONDERFUL anniversary gift from our children. They took us to dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Tempe where we were served dinner in a private room. After we ate, the kids had us play a game...we had to answer questions and as we did, we saw that there was a message being revealed….It was a destination…Williamsburg, Virginia. We were in shock…we never, in our wildest dreams thought that they would do something so big as to send us on a trip.

They couldn’t have sent us to an area more interesting or beautiful. We had a week to look at the place where the English immigrants landed in 1611 on their 3 little ships. Jamestown Virginia. The place where they landed has a dock, there replicas of the 3 ships built from the same plans that the original ships were made from. Having spent 4 years on the ocean, (AAAARRRRR!) I was fascinated that these people could spend months on the sea, in such cramped quarters, to come to an area that they new nothing about.

They were either REALLY wanting an adventure or their lives were pretty grim back home…or maybe they were just being fed some pretty tall tails by the owners of the company that sent them. When they arrived they had to deal with building a fort for protection from the Indians, hunting, fishing and planting crops…not to mention the fighting among themselves. Amazingly they did it. There is a replica of that original Fort and an Indian Village on that site, also a Church that they built.

Right next to Jamestown is Yorktown, where many battles were fought in the “Revolutionary” and the “Civil” wars. A little north is Williamsburg…the city and the seat of government for the English in Virginia. We got to stand in the little Armory that held the gun powder that the British Marines broke into, when the "Revolutionary War" began in that area of the country. What a fascinating place to visit.

We were provided with nice places to stay and a car to drive. We also got to spend a day in Washington DC visiting the Smithsonian, a few monuments and spend some time at Arlington Cemetery. (That was a humbling experience)
We really enjoyed the beauty of the East Coast and we’ll always cherish the trip and our children's generosity sending us there…it truly the BEST time that we’ve ever had together.

RANDOM THOUGHTS, "MUSINGS" AND OTHER NONSENSE.

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND "MUSINGS" AND OTHER NONSENSE.

Since I have finished with my history I will continue from time to time with, RANDOM THOUGHTS, "MUSINGS" AND OTHER NONSENSE".

So check back from time to time for the opportunity to answer the question..."Just how can the old fool embarrass himself today??"

Stay tuned, me "HEARTIES".....AAAARRRRR!!

NATALIE'S BAPTISM

Had a very nice baptism service yesterday with Natalie....she looked so sweet in her lovely dress. We had a great little luncheon afterwords at Larry and Vicky's with a wonderful menu.

The "STOPS" were pulled out with all of the food!!

It's good that we have so many grandchildren to baptize so we get many chances to remember our own....sure is comforting to hear again, those thoughts and sentiments.

It was nice to have the Amdals bring me up here and be so gracious...it was GREAT to spend time with this sweet family and with Cathy and her little ones.
