OUR THOUGHTS!

OUR THOUGHTS...

In order to understand my feelings about voting and every one's opinions...I think it would be wise to go back to my beginnings. My Mother and Father were raised in environments that encouraged the value of each persons thoughts.

I NEVER...heard one of them ask the other who they voted for...each approached it as a private matter, and they took voting and it's importance almost reverently. I learned much from them.

I'm a little more liberal in that thought process....You ask, I'll tell!! I may find it interesting why someone comes to the conclusions that they do...but it's not my job to get into your BIZNESS!!

To prove my point...I can't remember coming out and telling any of you kids what you should do while your going through life....even when I thought that bad decisions were being made, I don't believe I did anything but support youse guys!! During a conversation I may have made a comment or two, that I was suprised that any of you would choose to ignore the admonition of the Prophet....but I don't recall it being the kind that would have been construed as an argument that you better do it, "MY WAY! It's your life "KIDDIES"....Like the prophet has said..."You have your agency, Your free to make your decisions. The only thing you don't have control over is the ramifications of those choices."

Like everything in life, we all come to the decisions that we make from our life's experiences. Jack and I were talking the other night and politics came up and he made a comment about Obama and that I probably wasn't pleased that he won the election....I told him that, in my opinion both parties are headed in the wrong direction, but that the Dem's would just get us there a little quicker. I told him that I know that our thoughts are from a "Generational" perspective. I lived through the last REAL liberal that we had....(Clinton was liberal but was more interested in his own "Interests" than toeing a strict party line....(Note...his supporting welfare reform. He chose not to go after those who were attacking us, so he wasn't involved in a war that would prove to be costly... etc.)

Going through the Carter administration's blunders, we ended up with an inflation rate of over 12% and interest rates over 20%. It did enable Ronald Reagan to come in and turn things around...but it took time and was painful.

It will be interesting to see how Obama handles his power...he is a good, charismatic speaker that has talked a good game....well....."YOUR UP!" Will he hit a home run or strike out. Because of his background and his promises, the expectations placed upon him by the black community and half of the country, is "GINORMOUS". Frankly, I don't believe that he can deliver what they'd like him to do without going even further than "W" has done in taking us into complete bankruptcy. We shall see what he is made of rather quickly....and I'm rootin' for him to be a MAN....and do what is right for the country as a whole. His biggest problems will probably come from those who supported him the loudest. When he changes his agenda, and he will, they
are unlikely to take it kindly.

Maren, like your siblings, I'm proud of you for standing up for what you believe and having the guts to stand up with those decisions. I enjoyed the way you came to your conclusions and stated them on "YOUR" Blog....put it back up if you'd like, you deserve to be heard.

I love all of you and respect you and your free agency...use it wisely...and always consider, "What would the Savior do?"
